How to Curl Your Hair!!!

The last few years I have been on some what of a search on how to curl my hair! You see, I have very thick hair, so curling can take me some time.

I love the look of curls and lately curls or beach waves have really been in, but I have been really unsuccessful at achieving the curly look!

My Top Christmas Gifts

My Top christmas gifts for kids

It’s that time of year again, Christmas time!! I don’t know about you, but 2017 has FLOWN by! Can you believe we are at another Christmas?

I love the Christmas season and what it brings, but one thing is for sure it can get stressing trying to figure out what to buy my children for the holidays.

Now my daughter is simple. She LOVES princesses, Barbies, and ponies, but my oldest son, is so hard to buy for.

You see my son is 6 years old and while he loves to play, his attention isn’t held by toys. He loves to draw, crafts, ride bikes, and build things. He is very hands on so his attention isn’t held with most toys but rather with things that will keep him engaged for awhile.

My two year old is simple. If it looks or sounds like a truck, he is good!

For the last few weeks I have been thinking of things that would make my children happy.

do i give in to hype toys?

Lucky for me, my children are not into “hype” toys. They do not desire the latest and hottest thing.

When I saw the Fingerling Monkey toy (or whatever it’s called) online, I called my kids over and showed it to them asking if they liked it. All 3 said no!! Sweet!!

I don’t want my children growing up wanting something just because everyone else has one. I want them to develop their own likes and know what they like and want.

DIY Breakfast Freezer Sandwiches

DIY Breakfast Freezer Sandwiches

breakfast

At my house, mornings are hectic! I have three children to get dressed, fed, and to school. I also help my husband get out the door in the mornings. Needless to say most mornings I feel quite overwhelmed.

The other day it hit me, why not try and make your mornings less hectic! I began to think of ways that could help my mornings when I realized it was breakfast that threw a hiccup in my day.

My two youngest will eat cereal (EASY!) but my oldest and my husband are not down with cereal in the morning. I usually find myself pouring cereal, then making a couple of breakfast sandwiches, making my husbands lunch, and finally making my son’s school lunch all while shouting commands. “GET DRESSED!” “EAT YOUR BREAKFAST” “WE HAVE TO GO!!!!!”

To say I was overwhelmed was an understatement. That’s when I decided to try my hand at breakfast freezer sandwiches.

what are breakfast freezer sandwiches?

breakfast

As I have been scrolling through Pinterest I have seen pins on freezer breakfast sandwiches but I had never read them or even tried them, but I was determined to try my hand at them and to do them as cheap as possible.

So what exactly is a breakfast freezer sandwich? It’s exactly what it sounds like. A sandwich that you reach into the freezer, heat up, eat, and go!! Something that’s fast and easy! I also like the fact that I know the ingredients and that they are affordable!

On my last grocery shopping trip I bought all the ingredients for my sandwiches and I must say, they turned out great!! They came out to be just around.50 a sandwich. You can’t even buy a sandwich that cheap at McDonalds! And these are WAY better than any McDonalds breakfast sandwich.

DIY Seasoning mix for spaghetti

I grew up eating lots of spaghetti, chili, and tacos and in fact, they are some of the first foods I learned to cook. They were super simple and I could do it all by myself.

One common factor my mother used in each one of her recipes were seasoning packets. These seasoning packets are the ones you get at the store that cost between .33- $1.  You know the type where you follow the directions on the back and you have dinner in no time!

I have many childhood memories that circle around these dishes! When I became a mom, I wanted to introduce these dishes to my children. There was just one problem. A lot of these packets are so full of fillers, sodium, and even MSG! YIKES!!

I didn’t want to feed my family this mess so I knew there had to be a better way!

4 Reasons Why You NEED Amazon Prime!

(This post may contain affiliate links, please click here to read our full disclosure!)

amazon

Today I want to talk to you about one of my most favorite things! AMAZON PRIME! For the last couple of years my husband and I have had an amazon prime account. I must say, it has been one of our best purchases. We are constantly making purchases on Amazon.

I must admit, before I became an Amazon Prime user, I thought it was only for shipping. When I visited amazon.com it would always suggest I become a member for free shipping. at $99 for the year, I wasn’t so interested. In my mind I didn’t shop too much on Amazon, so why would I need to spend my hard earned money for free shipping, no thanks!

It wasn’t until one year, Amazon ran a special. $49 for 12 months of Amazon Prime. My husband suggested we try it out! I was a little skeptical, but agreed to it since it was half the price.

My world changed FOREVER!!

My  husband told me that Amazon Prime was not only for free shipping to look more into it. And let me tell you, this is when the fun began!

5 Simple Steps to Have Your Child Potty Trained!

potty training

(This post may contain affiliate links, if you click on a link and make a purchase, I make a commission at no cost to you, check out our disclaimer for our amazon policy)

Potty Training

Are you like me and absolutely LOVE children! I love my kids soooooooo much and would gladly have more if I could; however,  getting PUPPPS on my last pregnancy and potty training have made me say NO WAY to more children.

Lets face it, potty training is not for the weak. None of us have time to set aside and spend a week following your toddler around and taking them to the potty every 10-15 mins.  This is ESPECIALLY more difficult if you have more than 1 child!

This is where I fall into play. I have 3 children. 6, 4, and 2 years old. My 6 year old is in first grade and my 4 and 2 year old are home with me. I have been wanting to train since the summer, but was having a difficult time finding the time WHEN to do it.

My husband works full time and I am a full time mom driving back from school, grocery stores, and extra curricular activity. It seemed IMPOSSIBLE to get this 26 month old of mine trained until I saw the opportunity.  TRACK OUT!

You see, my oldest son goes to year round school. This means he goes to school for 9 weeks and then is off for 3 weeks. It’s an amazing schedule. His first track out of the year started in mid September. I had such big plans for the family for track out but then it hit me. I NEED TO POTTY TRAIN OUR YOUNGEST CHILD. I needed to put my big girl pants on and do it!

Now I have pottied trained 3 children and I have found some keys to help make your training go much smoother and quicker! I know there are many books and blogs out there that you can read and buy, but I’m going to lay it out for you.

I have trained both boys and girls so I know exactly what to expect for both type of children. It’s also important to note here that I’ve always started potty training between 22-24 months of age with 24 months being ideal. Any younger than this, you will be pottied trained and not your child. You want to have a level of communication with your child so that they can tell you when they need to go potty vs you running back and forth to the potty every few minutes.

So lets dive in and talk about the 5 simple steps you need to do in order to have your child potty trained.

blog

{This post may contain affiliate links. If you click on a link and make a purchase, I make a small commission at NO COST to you! Please read full disclosure here!}

Today’s topic is a popular topic. How to start a blog!

These days it’s a lot easier than it use to be. Back in the day, before I knew about blogger.com or wordpress.com we would make our own webpages where we would write about our day, life, or whatever was going on in our teenage minds. We would use websites like tripod or angelfire (Do those sites exist today??).

Then enter social media.

You had everyoneconnected.com, myspace.com, and facebook.com. The world of communicating had forever been changed. In my mind blogging was obsolete.

In 2010, my husband and I attended a blogging conference on how to make money blogging and it was definitely a thought provoking thing. I was unaware that you could actually make money with a  blog!

I decided to give it go; however, at the time, I was having a hard time getting started, learning the ropes, plus I was very pregnant with our first child. Needless to say, I was less than motivated to continue on!!

What the PUPPP??? How to help get rid of PUPPPS

{This post contains affiliate links,  If you click a link and make a purchase, we will receive a commission at NO COST to you! Click here to read our Amazon policy}

how to get rid of puppps

Something I wanted to talk about today is something that almost took me completely out. PUPPPS

When I found out I was pregnant with our third child, I was so excited!

I was already a mom of two, I already had a boy and a girl, so I felt extremely prepared.

I didn’t have to worry about buying clothes or baby accessories, I was ready.

However, with that said, I AM LITERALLY THE WORST PREGNANT PERSON IN THE WORLD. Ok, maybe not in the world, but I’m pretty close to it. (Just ask my husband) Little did I know PUPPPS was going to rock our world!

It’s like the moment I pee on a pregnancy test, the miserable nausea and fatigue kick in.

I was certain that with this third pregnancy, things would be different.

I would finally have my dream pregnancy, but that’s not exactly what happened!

The start of misery…moments before puppps

Now lets take a trip back to 2014, I found out I was pregnant right before the holidays started. And of course, that’s when the nausea started to take place, right around Thanksgiving and Christmas. I was so miserable. I could hardly eat, I could hardly drink , I was beyond miserable.

To make matters even worse, I came down with a terrible flu like cold. I was so sick. I couldn’t even enjoy Christmas dinner.

So once Christmas passed, I called my doctor and told my doctor that I couldn’t eat or drink and I had extreme nausea. I told my doctor that I had been sick previously.

Here I’m thinking I’m about to get some nausea medicine when he says, “ Oh well this nausea is coming from you being sick, just rest and try to eat and drink.” UGGGGGG, really???

Can we say disappointed? I went almost another week in this same condition when I woke up one morning after the new year throwing my guts up.

Drinking or brushing my teeth would result in me throwing up. ( I know some of you mama’s know exactly what I’m talking about!)  Of course, I was scheduled to be at work that day, so I called in sick and then I called my husband (who was already at work) He told me to call my doctor. I called my doctor and they had me come in.

Long story short, I was so dehydrated that I had to go to the hospital and get pumped full of fluids. I definitely DO NOT recommend dehydration, it’s terrible!

Easiest Eggplant Parmesan Recipe

eggplant

When I first met my husband, he was pretty much vegan.

He would splurge and maybe have a dairy product but for the most part he was vegan.

Then he met me. The sweet tea loving, fast food eating, Mississippi girl. “You don’t eat what???? How do you get protein??? ” I’m sure those were a few questions I asked him!

However, after being with me a while his vegan ways went to the way side and he splurged and had meat with me every now and then.

But I also started to lean more towards a vegetarian life style. So I would always joke and say we were half vegetarians.

A few years pass and I realized that going vegetarian and eventually vegan is something that I want to strive and do for my family (still striving!)! We can leave this for another blog day!

So my search began for vegetarian/vegan ideas! At first it was hard, but it got easier as the days went on!

I’ll share more about our eating life style and some recipes I love to try another day, but today I want to share with you the most amazing eggplant parm recipe!

I mean it’s so amazing that my husband could almost eat the entire dish!
